Glacier Bay in southeastern Alaska, United States contains many sights to see. While taking a tour boat around this icy region, i have learned many things about the history and formation of this geologic location. The tour guide had told me that Glacier Bay has a 4,ooo year record and had been around during the minimum of 4 total glacier periods! I also learned that the bay had been formed by the subduction plate boundary where the Pacific plate is being forced to go under the North American plate. As a result of this plate activity, the Bay has formed with a northwest-southeast patterns as the North American plate moves northwest over the Pacific plate which is forcing southeast. As i travel this region, i see many mountains and changes in elevation. The tour guide had told me about the findings of preserved tools and an object in the form of a house said to dated to about 2,ooo BP! I had been told that Glacier bay National Park is the homeland of the Huna Tlingit tribe. If you would also like to visit this unique region, book it fast because there are many limits on the amount of human inhabitants that may be visiting this location at a time so that nature and science has room to work.
